New At Coalesce: 8 Things To Expect

Two whole years without a proper desert NYE party has us itching to put in our all for the Apple Valley debut! We bided our time patiently, collaborated with more community members, and pushed our goals to the max for Coalesce 2022 which resulted in us adding a slew of new offerings for this year’s gathering. Grab your camping gear and get your groove on this year - whether you are a seasoned veteran or a newcomer, there are surprises in store for you!

Keep reading to learn more about eight additions to Coalesce this year…

1. new stage design

Our stage in 2020 was such a huge feat of collaboration between early arrivers, we wanted to nurture that spirit with inventiveness in our new stage installation. Designed by brilliant minds Cali Mahoney, Lucy K, and Regina Trigueiro, their ideas are going to dazzle the venue with their creativity and artistic expression. Constructed in true DIY Coalesce fashion thanks to JH Carpentry, the spirit of the renegade is brought to life with a yin-yang motif backdrop and barrel-based booth accompanied by bright disco balls to bring out that real gathering essence. A shaded structure will also provide protection from the sun throughout the day and an essential dance floor enclosure at night, but we won’t reveal its magnificence in this blog post. You’ll have to come to Coalesce to see it for yourself!

2. Sound system

Better bring some earplugs, our speakers this year are going to blast your ear drums with one-of-a-kind audio provided by Danley Sound Labs. Featuring hardware initially designed for commercial theaters, the tunes will truly blow you away whether it’s far-out house or hard af techno. Meet under the shade structure to dance with everyone while the bass rattles your bones to the core. Get lost with our highest quality system to date so you can rediscover the power of music. Don’t forget to fuel up with some warm and toasty libations from the Coalesce Cafe! (continue reading to learn more…)

3. Coalesce cafe

If you need a pick-me-up in between dance floor sessions, stop by the Coalesce Cafe for some warm refreshments! We’ll be serving hot drinks and soup throughout the entire event to fuel you up. Our menu includes tea, hot chocolate, coffee, and ramen to warm you up so you can keep on dancing! We’re also seeking volunteers at the Cafe, fill out the form here if you’re interested.

Cafe Hours:

Wed 12/29 10am-10pm

Thu 12/30 10am-10pm

Fri 12/31 10am-10pm

Sat 1/1 9am-12pm

3. games & activities

Cooperation is a key principle of Coalesce, and we want to foster that fundamental with games and activities! From balls to badminton, there will be a variety of equipment accessible for all to enjoy. Don’t be afraid to create a racket and make some noise, bring a crowd together and take advantage of the open space! Board games will also be available for rent for those who prefer the leisurely lifestyle. We have a policy of trust to return equipment and ensure everything is in order, so please respect the code.

5. link-up lounge

Head over to our new comfy corner, the Link-Up Lounge! Featuring a bed of pillows, blankets, and other plush items - it’s the perfect place to take a dance break, squeeze in a late-morning nap, or mingle with new people who share the same open-minded agenda of connecting with others. Located next to the stage so you can maximize your vibes in style, this red structure will also host our flow artists at night to create a spectacle of visual and sonic fusion.

Just make sure to pick up after yourselves, your parents aren’t here to clean the mess you leave behind!

6. Meal plans by shawndee

Chef Shawndee is cooking up some special grub this year. How can I get these delicious meals, you ask? Purchase meal plans ahead of time instead of challenging your diet to the extreme with champagne and cliff bars (we’ve been there). Our last physical gathering in the Mojave was pleasantly surprised when burritos and pasta were being distributed, and we knew we had to bring her special knack for the kitchen back. This year is featuring a more diverse menu with dietary-friendly options for our vegetarian and vegan friends. Check out our blog post and Instagram for more information, but you better hurry - meal plans sales end on December 21st!

7. New Art

One of the most rewarding experiences of any desert get together is discovering a beautiful piece of art unexpectedly, and studying it with deep concentration and appreciation. We are proud to spotlight local creators of all levels of expertise, promoting year-round on our social media and events. This year we are featuring some exciting installations, including an interactive diorama to look at with your mind’s eye from Boo Sparks. Visit the artist’s GoFundMe for more information and to make a contribution!

8. new djs

And of course, we cannot forget the fresh musical talent on our lineup! We received over 90 inquiries to be a part of the lineup this year, which is over double than we normally get. This made the process of curating the music challenging, but also extremely fun because we were able to discover so many new artists we had never heard of before, resulting in our most eclectic Coalesce New Years lineup yet! Read our blog post for more info and lookout for these DJs, show your support and cheer them on. We champion encouragement to pursue mixing as a form of exhibiting passion for our favorite sounds. If you have always wanted to give it a go, spruce up on your skills and submit a mix next year!

If you’re now as excited as we are and still haven’t secured your spot, hurry before it’s too late!

The deadline for donations is December 27th at 11:59pm.
